I thought using a whole chicken was just a hassle for saving maybe $3.
But after breaking one down myself last weekend, I got 4 meals for my family of three, plus a pot of stock, and honestly, why did I ever buy just breasts?

Man, I felt like a total caveman the first time I tried it. I was covered in chicken juice and had to google which part was the oyster. But then I had all those meals, and I was like, okay, maybe I'm a genius? A very messy, confused genius.

Right? It's like a magic trick they don't want you to know. You pay for one chicken and suddenly you're a meal prep hero for the whole week. Those little packets of just breasts feel like a total scam now.

Totally! My roommate tried to make stock from the bones once. It smelled amazing but looked like muddy water. We still ate the soup though.
