Is meal prepping Sunday actually saving money or just costing time?
Last month I did a big Sunday prep session for 5 days of dinners, spent $62 at the grocery store, and threw out about a third of it by Thursday because I got sick of eating the same chili. Three years ago I just cooked every other night with whatever was on sale, and I swear my food bill was lower. Which side do you land on, batch cooking or buying as you go?
Started tracking my grocery spending religiously last January and discovered I blow all my savings on those middle aisle impulse buys at Target. Went in for eggs and milk on a Tuesday, walked out with a cast iron skillet and those fancy reusable bags I never use. The real kicker though, my chili recipe makes exactly 4 portions and I live alone, so by day three I'm dumping it into the freezer and ordering pizza anyway. Batch cooking only works if you actually eat leftovers, which I clearly don't. Ended up just eating a lot of scrambled eggs and rice for a month to make up for it. Still cheaper than throwing away half my Sunday prep.
