Made $28 worth of chili feed me for 5 nights this week
I threw together a big pot of chili on Sunday with a $4 pack of ground beef, some canned beans I got for 88 cents each, and a giant can of crushed tomatoes that was on sale. It cost me about $28 total for everything including the spices and an onion. I ate it for dinner Monday through Wednesday, then froze two portions for next week. Has anyone else gotten way more mileage out of a single batch of soup or stew than they expected?

yeah but $28 for 5 meals is still over $5 a serving, not much of a bargain

My daughter tried one of those meal services last month and the portions were so small she ended up eating a whole bag of chips after dinner anyway. Guess you can't beat a $3 frozen pizza from the grocery store.

Doesn't that depend on where you live though... @the_mary nailed it about the price not being a steal. Those $3 pizzas might not be gourmet but at least we don't cry over the bill.
