My brother's simple pasta sauce trick saved me $40 a month

We were talking about grocery bills last week and he said, 'Why buy jars when you can make a week's worth from a $2 can of tomatoes?' I always thought making sauce from scratch was a big deal. He showed me his method: one can of crushed tomatoes, some dried herbs from the dollar store, and a bit of garlic. It simmers while the pasta cooks. I've made it three times now and haven't bought a jar in a month. What other simple swaps like this have you guys found?

Wait, isn't garlic powder better for a quick sauce? Fresh garlic can burn easy if you're not careful. I just shake some powder in with the dried herbs at the start, and it always turns out fine.

Try adding fresh garlic after the onions soften.

Exactly, garlic powder blends in so much easier... never have to worry about it.
