PSA: I ruined a week's worth of meals by forgetting one simple step
Last month, I cooked a huge batch of chicken soup to save time and money. I let it sit on the stove to cool before putting it away. When I woke up the next day, the whole pot had spoiled in the warm kitchen. I lost all that food and had to buy takeout instead. Always move your cooked food to the fridge as soon as it's safe to touch, right?

Describe how long you actually let it cool on the stove. Was it like a couple hours while you watched a movie, or did you totally forget about it overnight? Also how warm is your kitchen usually, that makes a big difference.

Yeah, and if your kitchen's warm, you gotta move it to the fridge way sooner. That big pot of soup holds heat for hours.

Actually, room temp is way more important than how long it sits. My kitchen stays between 68 and 72, and things cool down super fast. If your place is warmer than that, it would explain why it's still soft. What's yours usually at?
