The $3 bag of dried beans changed my grocery budget completely

I always thought dried beans were too much work and not worth the hassle. Then I bought a 2 pound bag for $2.89 at WinCo, soaked and cooked them on a Sunday, and got the equivalent of maybe 5 cans out of it. That saved me around $6 and the texture was way better. Anyone else find a cheap staple they swore off that actually ended up being worth it?

Yeah I used to buy those pre-seasoned rice packets for like $3 each and then I just bought a big bag of plain rice for $4 and it lasted me two months. Kind of mad at myself for all that money I wasted.

Whoa, two months out of one bag of rice? That's wild.

Those seasoning packets make the rice taste way better though.
