Vent: The diner near my old office shut down and Im still salty about their $6 lunch special
I drove by the place last week and saw a for lease sign. They used to do a meatloaf plate with mashed potatoes and peas for 6 bucks even after prices went up everywhere else. I miss grabbing that on my break and just zoning out for 20 minutes. Does anyone else have a spot that closed that you still think about?

Man I gotta hard disagree with you guys on this one. Canned peas have this specific nostalgia factor that frozen ones just don't hit, like they remind me of school lunches and grandma's cooking in a weird way. Plus that place was a steal for six bucks, you're not gonna get fresh veggies at that price point anywhere these days. The dry meatloaf thing I can see if you went on a bad day but I swear they nailed it when the rush wasn't on. Sometimes the whole experience matters more than the individual parts, you know? I'd take a slightly mushy pea and a decent meatloaf for six bucks over a twenty dollar plate of fancy food any day.

Wait, am I the only one who thought that place was overrated? I went there a few times and the meatloaf always came out dry and the peas were straight from a can. For six bucks you can't complain much but I never understood the hype. The mashed potatoes were decent though, I'll give them that.

Wait, they served canned peas and people were still hyping this place up? That floors me. In my experience, if a place can't be bothered to thaw some frozen peas and pop them in a pan with butter, that's a pretty clear sign of where their priorities are. I mean, canned peas have that mushy texture and weird metallic taste, I don't know how you get past that. Good mashed potatoes can only carry a meal so far, you know?
