Found a motel outside Nashville that had a vending machine full of canned biscuits

Pulled off I-40 near Lebanon last month at a $45 a night place and the only thing in the machine besides soda was 12 packs of Pillsbury Grands. Anybody else run into weird roadside snack situations?

Lebanon is exactly the kind of place where you find that, idk, it almost feels like a hidden tradition out there. I mean, weird vending machine finds are just part of the charm of those offbrand motels, like how every roadside place has that one random snack that makes you question your whole road trip. It's kind of a small-scale reminder that most of the country operates on a totally different logic than what we expect, and that's honestly fine.

... and now I'm just picturing myself on the road, desperate for a snack, and having to decide between a sad soda or a can of uncooked dough. That's a new level of "I'll take my chances.

Honestly, I gotta push back on that "sad soda" part a bit. A cold soda on a long drive is like a little moment of peace, even if it's not gourmet. And yeah, uncooked dough is a weird option, but it's a can of bread you can rip open and bake in a pinch if you're really stranded. I'd take a warm, half-baked biscuit over nothing any day if I'm genuinely hungry and miles from the next exit. So I get the joke, but I think desperation has way lower standards than that.
