Hot take: I wasted $280 on airport parking before I learned to check the lot 2 blocks out
Last month I flew out of Midway for a 4 day trip to see my brother in Denver, and I pulled straight into the main garage like I always did. Dropped $35 a day, so $140 total, and I did not think twice about it. Then I am standing in line for coffee at the gate and this guy next to me says he paid 9 bucks a day at an off site lot a few blocks away, with a free shuttle that runs every 10 minutes. I checked my phone right there and found like 6 of those places around Midway, all under 12 dollars a day with reviews. Did the math on the back of a napkin, and I have probably blown close to 280 dollars over the last two years just parking at the terminal because I never bothered to look. The shuttle added maybe 15 minutes each way, which is nothing compared to what I was paying. Now I want to know, is there some catch with those off site lots I am missing, like do they jack up rates on holiday weekends or is the shuttle really as quick as people say?
