I always booked hostels, but a cheap hotel in Lisbon made me switch sides

For my trip last month, I had to pick between a $25 hostel bunk or a $45 private hotel room... I went with the hotel because I was just so tired. Having my own quiet space after walking all day was worth every extra euro. Has anyone else found a cheap hotel that beat a hostel for you?

Oh wow, a whole $20 more for a room to yourself? Yeah, that's a life-changing choice right there. Glad you survived the luxury.

Ever had one of those trips where you're just done with sharing a bathroom? Found a spot in Budapest for like thirty bucks a night. It was this tiny room above a bakery, smelled like fresh bread all morning. After a week of train travel, not hearing someone's alarm go off at 5 AM was pure magic. Garcia.cameron might call it a splurge, but quiet is worth paying for.

Actually sounds like a solid deal. That quiet after constant travel is a real reset. Some things you just can't put a price on. A week of shared spaces would make anyone crave a door that locks. Fresh bread smell is a major bonus too.
