I booked a super cheap flight and ended up paying way more in the end
Last week, I grabbed a $50 flight to visit my sister in another state. The catch was it landed at a tiny airport two hours from her city. I didn't think about the cost to get from there to her place. The only taxi service charged me over $100 for the ride. So my cheap ticket actually cost more than a regular flight to the closer airport. Next time, I'll add up all the travel costs before I book anything.

But why blame airlines when you skip reading the fees like @nora_miller44 said?

Ugh, my friend had the same thing happen with budget airline baggage fees! Her twenty dollar ticket turned into a hundred dollar ordeal after all the extra charges. It really sneaks up on you.

Budget airlines like Frontier charge for carry-on bags, not just checked luggage. Their fees are shown during booking, so the total cost can be calculated upfront. It's easy to miss if you rush through the purchase process, though.
