I finally stopped paying hostel laundry fees in Rome
Last month I had to pick between a $18 bunk with no AC or a $45 hostel that promised laundry service. I went cheap and washed my socks in the sink with shampoo, then hung them on my backpack straps for 3 days. They smelled like a fancy hotel bar by day two, which beat the $7 per load fee at the place near Termini station. Anyone else got a weird sink laundry trick that actually works for merino wool?

My friend swore by rinsing merino in cold water and rolling it in a towel.
