Istanbul's Grand Bazaar charged me triple just for being a tourist
Went there last week and the rug guy straight up admitted their prices are 3x higher if you look foreign. Has anyone else figured out a way to haggle without getting the tourist tax?

Triple? That's crazy... I can't believe he just told you straight up like that. Usually they at least pretend to give you the "family discount" or whatever. I've been to the Grand Bazaar a few times and yeah you get the tourist treatment but I never had a guy just admit the markup like that.

Stood there in the middle of his shop and just said "three times what a local pays." Not even a whisper. Shook my head. I get that haggling is part of the game over there but that level of honesty is almost disrespectful. Like he did not even care enough to lie to me. Makes you wonder how many other places just see you coming from a mile away.
