Just realized my airport meal routine was burning cash for no reason
I always figured buying food at the airport was just part of the deal, even if it cost a lot. Then last month, I got stuck during a delay and paid twelve dollars for a bottle of water and a granola bar. I looked around and saw a bunch of people with full lunches they brought from home, chatting and not stressed. That really got me thinking about how dumb my habit was. Lately, I notice more folks with their own food, probably because prices everywhere keep going up. Now I pack a sandwich and some fruit, and I save maybe thirty bucks every trip. It feels obvious now, but it took seeing it to click. My wallet is definitely happier.

Twelve dollars for water and a single granola bar? That's the part that actually breaks my brain. I could get a whole grocery bag of that stuff for twelve bucks anywhere else. It's like they see a delayed flight and just add a zero to the price tag. That's not convenience, that's just catching people when they're stuck.

Ever notice how airport food tastes worse when you know the price? Bringing your own makes the whole trip feel more relaxed.

Totally get that. Once brought a homemade tuna sandwich through security and it got crushed in my bag, but honestly, eating it still beat paying fifteen bucks for a sad burger. The whole price thing messes with your head, like you're paying for the convenience but it feels like a scam. Makes me wonder if airports have some deal with the restaurants to keep prices high so we all feel trapped. Anyway, yeah, packing your own stuff is the way to go, even if it ends up a bit messy.
