My cousin in Prague said 'never book a hostel bed, just book the whole room' and I finally tried it for $45 a night.

I always thought hostels were just for bunk beds, but she argued that splitting a private 4-bed room with friends you meet online beforehand is cheaper and way more chill than a dorm, so I tried it in Lisbon and had my own key and zero snoring roommates.

My gym started charging a $10 monthly "equipment cleaning fee" on top of the membership, same idea as @shane_morgan's snoring tax. Everything's getting broken down into extra charges now. My old apartment tried to add a fee for using the trash chute after 8pm. It feels like companies are inventing new problems just to sell us the solution we already paid for.

That's genius, my snoring could fund a private room.

lmao imagine waking up in a hotel room with a $300 charge on your card and a note saying "snores detected: 47 decibels over limit". pretty soon they'll have a meter on the nightstand like a breathalyzer. next trip ill just sleep with my mouth taped shut to save money.

Actually @shane_morgan, that idea might backfire big time. Charging people for snoring turns a basic human need into a luxury. It punishes folks for something they can't control while they sleep. Hotels would just use it as an excuse to cut costs on soundproofing. Next they'll charge extra for talking or having the TV on. The whole point of a shared space is accepting some noise.
