My friend swore by booking flights on a Tuesday night, so I tried it for a trip to Miami.

She said to check around 10 PM for the best deals. I did that for three weeks straight and the prices never dropped below what I saw on a Monday afternoon. Ended up booking on a random Thursday for $50 less than the so-called 'magic' Tuesday price. Has anyone else found that old flight hack just doesn't work anymore?

Three weeks of checking at 10 PM sounds like a brutal experiment!

Yeah, it's the kind of thing that seems easy until you're the one trying to fall asleep at 9:45 knowing you can't look. Messes with your head after a few days. I'd probably cave and start checking at 9:59 just to get it over with.

The 9:59 check is the real test of willpower. It's like your brain decides the rules are just a suggestion at that point. Honestly, the whole thing sounds like a form of torture.

Funny you mention that. It's not just sleep experiments either. Same thing happens with diets, budgets, even quitting social media. People set these rigid rules and then the brain fights back harder. It's like we're wired to want what we can't have, especially when a clock is involved. That 9:59 thing is just a microcosm of how people fail at self control in general. The real trick is making the rule feel optional even when it's not.
