My hostel bunkmate called out my packing system and was right

I used to roll everything into compression cubes, thought it was genius. A guy in Barcelona watched me pack for 10 minutes and said I was wasting time overthinking it. He pointed out I carried three pairs of shoes for a week trip, which I never wore. I cut down to one pair and a sandals, saved 4 pounds and got a smaller bag. Anyone else get packing advice from a stranger that actually stuck?
