Night bus or red-eye flight, I picked wrong in Mexico City

I took the bus to save $55, but the lost sleep plus the hostel day fee basically wiped out the savings. Should I just bite the bullet and fly next time or is there a trick to picking decent overnight buses in Latin America?

Nah, night buses are a gamble, you just got unlucky. Better buses exist, do your research!
