Realized I was wasting so much money on airport food
I was stuck at O'Hare last week with a 5 hour layover and spent like $28 on a burger and fries. It hit me that I do this almost every trip. Now I pack a big zip lock bag with a sandwich, some nuts, and a granola bar from home. It costs maybe $3 total and saves a ton. I feel silly for not doing it sooner, but I always thought it was a hassle. Does anyone else have a go-to cheap airport meal they pack?

Totally get it, that airport markup is brutal. I started doing the same thing after dropping fifteen bucks on a sad little bag of trail mix at LaGuardia. My go-to is a couple of those cheese sticks, an apple, and a big bottle of water I fill up after security. It feels way better than getting ripped off, and you don't have to wait in those crazy lines.

It's just a burger, not a car payment. The hassle of packing food isn't worth saving twenty bucks to me.

Yeah exactly, I had the same realization after paying $8 for a bottle of water at Newark last year. Now I just throw a sandwich and some snacks in my carry on and it saves me like $30 every trip.
