That hostel owner in Barcelona who showed me his booking calendar changed how I plan trips forever
He pointed out that Sunday night check-ins are half the price of Friday nights because nobody wants to arrive on a Sunday, so now I always shift my travel by 2 days and save $40 every time - has anyone else found a weird day-of-the-week trick like that?

Sunday nights are cheaper for a reason though. You waste an entire day of your trip just traveling and checking in, plus everything closes early so you're stuck eating overpriced gas station snacks. Friday night you check in, drop your bags, and hit the town while it's actually alive. Saving forty bucks isn't worth losing a whole evening of a vacation that you probably paid hundreds for already.
