Automatic transfers actually made me spend MORE for 6 months

I set up $200 auto-transfers every payday last January and somehow my checking account kept running dry, took me half a year to realize I was treating the savings balance like free money. Now I manually move cash at the end of each month with a 48-hour waiting period, has anyone else found that friction beats automation when you're a natural spender?
