Found a way to cut my grocery bill by $80 last month
I was spending way too much at the store, so I started planning meals around the weekly flyer for my local Kroger. Last week, chicken was on sale, so I built three dinners from that and bought extra to freeze. It felt silly at first, but it really added up. Has anyone else tried this kind of strict meal planning from sales?

I mean, I get the idea but that sounds like a lot of work for just one store. @aliceharris, your chicken museum is kind of my nightmare, I'd get so bored eating the same thing. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather cut back somewhere else and keep my meals flexible.

Call it silly but I call it a secret superpower. My freezer is basically a chicken museum at this point, with exhibits labeled "sale week of March 12th.

Hold on, is it really a superpower? It just sounds like a lot of frozen chicken. I can't imagine planning my life around sale weeks like that. The whole point of saving money is to make life easier, not to turn your freezer into a library you have to sort through.

I saw a study once that said meal planning like this can cut food waste by like 30%, which makes sense if you think about it. Freezing extra chicken when it's cheap isn't just about saving money, it's about not throwing food away later. I'd rather eat the same thing a couple nights than toss out spoiled veggies I bought on a whim.
