I heard a friend say 'budgeting is just about cutting out the fun stuff' and it really got to me.
We were grabbing a beer at The Rusty Nail last Friday and he was complaining about his savings plan. He said the only way he could save was by never going out or buying anything nice. I told him my win was different. I tracked every dollar for three months and found I was spending over 80 bucks a month on forgotten app subscriptions. I canceled those and now that money goes straight to my vacation fund without changing my daily fun at all. Does anyone else find their budget wins come from finding hidden leaks instead of just saying no to everything?

Thought the same thing until I started looking at my bank statements. Found out I was paying for a streaming service I hadn't used in over a year and some cloud storage I didn't need. Cutting those out felt like finding free money. It let me save for a new chainsaw without touching my weekend spending. Now I check for that stuff every few months.

Oh man, totally! I had the same shock last fall. Went through my card and found I was still paying for some audiobook thing from a free trial ages ago. Also had a music app for a workout plan I quit after two weeks. Felt so dumb, but getting those charges gone was like a little raise. I do a check every six months now, it's crazy what piles up.

Wait, isn't a gym membership usually a pretty obvious monthly bill? I feel like the real leaks are the sneaky ones, like a couple bucks here for an app you forgot.
