That Tuesday in March when my grocery bill hit $47 instead of $120

I always thought couponing was for extreme people, but after seeing my neighbor slice her weekly total in half using just store apps, I tried it for one week and saved $73. Has anyone else had a random day where their budget just worked out way better than expected?

Look at the receipt closer. That $47 bill probably doesn't include tax and the deposit on cans. Those little fees add up fast. I did the same thing once, thought I saved sixty bucks, then realized I forgot the $8 bag fee and the 5 cent deposit per can. Ended up being closer to $55. Still good but not as dramatic. Store apps are great but they trick you into thinking the total is lower than it really is. Always check the final number before you celebrate.

Stacking a store app sale with a digital coupon cut my last trip by $28.
