The Tuesday I forgot my grocery list and saved $47
I always plan meals around the weekly ad. Last Tuesday I walk into Kroger without the list, totally winging it. Grabbed a rotisserie chicken, a bag of frozen veggies, some rice, and eggs. No chips, no dips, no 'oh this is on sale' extras. Checkout was $23. My normal trip runs $70. Realized I don't need a list, I need to stop browsing. Anyone else found that shopping without a plan cuts their spend more than any coupon app?

The real trick might be that hunger is the best coupon. You grabbed protein, a starch, and veggies because your stomach was in charge, not your eyes. That saved you $47 because you skipped the aisles that make you hungry. The list works when you shop with a full stomach and a plan. But winging it works too, as long as you're not starving and you stick to the edges of the store. Maybe the question is why we all think we need to buy something to make a meal, when a chicken and some rice is literally a full dinner.

Wait, so you remember what's in the sale ad but not what you actually need at home? Is the real trick that you're avoiding the store's trickery, not avoiding the list?
