Had a customer last week ask if we could cut a brisket into 'little steak bites' for his dog's birthday party.
I mean, I did it, but watching him walk out with $80 worth of prime beef for a golden retriever named Kevin was something else. Anyone ever get a request that made you just stop and blink?

The $80 brisket for Kevin's birthday probably got served on a fancy plate while I'm over here eating cold pizza over my kitchen sink at 10pm. I mean, that dog is living the life I aspire to honestly. Maybe I need to start celebrating my own little wins with a prime cut of beef instead of waiting for a birthday to roll around. At least Kevin's party sounded more fun than my last Tuesday.

Just picture Kevin the golden retriever in a little party hat, living better than I do. Honestly, I'm more bothered that the dog has a more organized social calendar than me. That brisket is probably getting plated nicer than my last date night dinner. Some pets are just out here winning at life.

Remember my neighbor's poodle having a birthday party with a dog-friendly cake last month. I was taking out my trash while they sang happy birthday to him in their backyard. Felt strange watching a dog blow out candles when I hadn't celebrated my own birthday in years. Makes you wonder who's really got their life together sometimes. Pets are living the dream while we're just managing.

But isn't that the whole point of having a pet? You work hard so you can give them a good life, and seeing them happy is the reward. That guy probably got more joy from Kevin's party than from most things he buys for himself.
