The inspector who told me my saw was too sharp for rib bones

Everyone in this trade swears by a razor edge, but last month an old inspector named Ray in Sioux Falls told me I was causing micro-fractures on the rib bones with my 220 grit finish. I thought he was full of it until I switched to an 80 grit for the first cut and saw way less splintering on the racks. He said the tooth profile matters more than the polish for bone contact, and now my trim waste dropped about 12 percent. Anyone else ever get told to dull down on purpose and find it worked better?

12 percent is wild, I would've told that inspector to kick rocks. But now I'm second guessing every blade I've ever sharpened to a mirror finish.
