A clamp slipped on a maple face frame in my Salem shop and cracked a stile
I was gluing up a face frame for a kitchen in Salem last Tuesday and one of my pipe clamps slid right as I snugged it down, splitting the top stile about 3 inches. I pulled it apart fast, wiped the glue, and re-clamped with a scrap block behind the jaw, and it closed up clean enough to sand out. Anyone got a trick for keeping pipe clamps from creeping on glue-ups besides just cranking them tighter?
