Found out my grandfather's old chisels were worth more than my whole rig

I was digging through some old boxes my dad gave me last month, thinking they were just rusty junk from my grandfather's garage. Turns out a few of those chisels are from a maker in Boston that stopped production in the 1940s, and one sold on eBay for $400 alone. I almost sharpened them down to nothing without even looking them up, glad I paused and checked first. Has anyone else inherited tools that turned out to be way more valuable than they expected?

Hated when people said old tools were "worth something." Thought they were just being dramatic. But then my uncle found a set of old wrenches in a shed, looked them up, and sold them for more than my car. Totally changed my view. Now I check everything before I touch it with a grinder.
