Guy at the lumber yard made me rethink my whole approach to drawers
Was grabbing plywood in Tacoma last Thursday and this older cabinetmaker, maybe 70, saw me loading up 3/4 birch. He said I was wasting money building drawer boxes with that when 1/2 inch with a good dado joint works just as fine. I've been doing it the heavy way for 12 years and never once thought about the weight savings or the wear on the slides. Has anyone else switched to thinner stock and regretted it or stuck with it for good?
