Honestly, I spent 4 hours trying to get a flush fit on a simple drawer front and I think the whole 'measure twice, cut once' thing is overrated for final fitting.

Forget the wood moving, the real fight starts when you pick the wood in the first place. You can pick a board that looks perfect at the store, get it home, and find a hidden knot or a twist you swear wasn't there before. It's like the tree is playing a last trick on you from beyond the sawmill.

Yeah, the "measure twice" advice falls apart when you're dealing with real wood and hinges. I swear I measured a drawer front five times, but the second I put it on the cabinet, it was a full 1/8 inch off. The wood just moves on you.
