I finally figured out smooth drawer slides after lots of practice
For ages, my drawers would always jam or feel rough when opening. On my latest cabinet, I spent extra time aligning the slides with a story stick. I also applied paste wax to the metal runners, which helped a lot. When I tested it, the drawer moved so easily I almost couldn't believe it. This small win has boosted my confidence for the rest of the build. It's things like this that make woodworking so satisfying.

How did you get the wax to stick to the metal slides without gumming up? After seeing what @nora_murphy said about it seeming obvious, I tried it once and made a huge mess. You must have just the right touch to make it work that smooth.

Wait you put PASTE WAX on the metal part? I mean I've heard of waxing wood runners but that's genius for the metal slides. Idk why that's so wild to me, it seems so obvious now. That must be what gives it that insane smooth feel, like it's gliding on air. I'm totally trying that next time, my drawers always stick.

Totally, paste wax on metal slides saves so much hassle. I used it on my filing cabinet drawers that always jammed. After a quick clean and wax, they open with just a light push. The wax coats the metal and reduces drag, so everything moves smoothly. You have to reapply it every few months, but it's worth it. What other tricks do you have for stuck drawers?
