I finally gave in and tried those magnetic drawer slides everyone talks about

For years I thought they were just a pricey fad for fancy kitchens. Then I installed a set on a built-in for a client in Boise last month, and the smooth close is unreal. It convinced me when the homeowner, a retired engineer, said he'd never seen a drawer work that quietly. Now I'm thinking about using them on my own tool cabinet. Has anyone run into issues with them on really wide or heavy drawers?

That "unreal smooth close" you mentioned is the whole reason I switched. I put them on my heavy shop drawers full of router bits and they still work like new. Just make sure you get the right weight rating for your tools.

Check the side-to-side play on wide ones.

Man, this reminds me of my old metal filing cabinet. The drawers would stick so bad I'd have to yank them sideways just to open. Finally threw some heavy duty slides on there, the kind meant for engine compartments. Now it glides out even when stuffed with every manual from 1985. Should've done it years ago.
