My miter saw fence gave out halfway through a big custom order

It happened last Thursday while I was cutting 8 foot maple boards for a built-in. The locking pin sheared clean off, sending the fence flying. I had to clamp a straight edge to the table to finish the day's work. Has anyone else had a Delta fence fail like that, and what did you do for a quick fix?

Drilled and tapped the aluminum fence for a 1/4-20 bolt and a wing nut. It was a total hack job but it held for three more months until the replacement part came in. Just make sure you get it square before you lock it down.
