My take on cheap hardware shifted after a job went wrong

I always used budget parts to keep quotes low. After seeing a failure, I now believe being upfront about quality is the right call.

Sometimes the cheap stuff lasts just fine though.

Agree it can work out, but man it's always a gamble. Lisa's right that when it goes bad it sticks with you. Really depends on what you're buying cheap I guess.

My buddy bought a cheap coffee maker that caught fire after two weeks (melted the whole countertop, which Lisa would've hated). He saved maybe twenty bucks but spent five hundred fixing the damage. Sometimes the gamble just isn't worth the stress.

Totally get that shift in thinking. the_alice makes a fair point about cheap stuff sometimes working out, but man, seeing a job go wrong just messes with your head. Makes you want to be straight with people from now on.
