Rant: Saw a kitchen install in a new build where the builder forced the cabinets into an unlevel corner

I was at a job site in Raleigh last month and the framer was off by nearly half an inch on one wall and the homeowner just said 'make it work' to the lead guy, has anyone else dealt with builders who refuse to fix framing before cabinets go in?

Yeah I used to be in the "just make it work" camp myself. Then I had to fix a job where the cabinets were shimmed so badly the countertops looked like a funhouse mirror. Changed my whole outlook on demanding the builder square things up first.

Oh man, I feel that. I once shimmed a cabinet so bad I had to explain to the homeowner why their spice rack looked like it was leaning into a strong wind. Built myself a "funhouse future" just like you said.

Funhouse mirror" is the perfect way to describe it. I had to fix a kitchen once where the builder shimmed a lower cabinet by almost an inch, so the drawers would just barely open. The countertop guys did their best, but the whole thing looked like a wavy piece of glass when you stood at the sink. Now I just tell builders straight up that if the floor's not level, they better call a mud man before I touch a single cabinet box.
