Shop teacher said my dovetails looked like a beaver chewed them
Back in 2019 I was cutting dovetails with a jigsaw and calling it good enough, pins and tails all over the place. My old shop teacher Mr. Grimes looked at my first drawer box and said the gaps were wide enough to lose a dime in, then made me cut 30 practice joints by hand before he'd let me touch the glue. I switched to a fine pull saw and started marking with a knife instead of a pencil, and the joints got tight enough that I quit hiding them behind face frames. Funny thing is the hand cut ones take me longer but they fit better than anything my router jig ever did. Any of you still cut dovetails by hand or am I just being stubborn about it?

Watched a buddy fight dovetails for months, then hand cut them perfect.
