That $140 domino bit I bought off a sketchy site, snapped on the third use

I needed a 6mm domino bit fast for a job in Sacramento and found one on a discount tool site, way cheaper than the legit price. It worked twice then the carbide just chunked out mid-cut, ruining a walnut shelf. I know it's on me for buying counterfeit, but has anyone else gotten burned by these clone bits and do the cheap ones ever hold up?

Man, that hurts just reading about the walnut shelf. I snapped a 10mm knockoff from some random site last year, and it didn't even make it through one full board before the teeth went sideways. The worst part is how confident you feel for those first couple cuts, like you got away with something, then boom, it just gives up mid-pass. I've tried three cheap ones total, and none of them lasted more than a few hours of real work. Yeah, it's a lesson learned, but it still stings when the cheap fix costs you more in time and material than just buying the real thing from the start.
