Appreciation post: that one crawl space in the old part of town

I used to think I could handle any attic or crawl space job in under an hour. Then I got a call for a rewire in a 1920s house on Maple Avenue. The crawl space was maybe 18 inches high and packed with old insulation and debris. It took me almost four hours just to snake the new line from the exterior box to the living room wall plate. Anyone else have a nightmare crawl space story?

Ever wonder what people are hiding down there? My buddy found a whole stack of old playboys from the 70s under his house, wrapped in plastic. Said the spiders had claimed them as their own weird little library. Made the whole nasty job worth it for the story alone.
