Appreciation post: The old timer in the van next to mine saved my whole day
Honestly, I was about to lose it last Thursday on a job in that new development off Route 9. The wall plate for a coax outlet just would not sit flush, no matter what I did. This guy, Mike, saw me struggling from his van and walked over. He took one look, pulled a tiny file from his pocket, and shaved down a bit of drywall behind the plate in about 30 seconds. He said, 'Kid, sometimes the hole's just cut a little proud.' I've been doing this for three years and never thought of that. Anyone else have a simple trick that fixed a huge headache?

Was it really a huge headache or just a minor annoyance?

Oh come on, Kevin, have you never been stuck on something stupid for an hour? That's a whole hour you can't get back. My question is, what's the one tool you'd never leave your truck without now? After a tip like that, I bet you keep a file handy forever.
