My cheap fish tape snapped and cost me a whole afternoon

I bought a $15 fish tape from a discount hardware store to save money, and the thing broke inside a wall after only two uses. Had to cut a new access panel and spent 4 hours fishing the line by hand. Anyone have a brand of fish tape that can actually handle a tight bend?

Cheap tools always cost more in the end.

But sometimes the cheap one works fine and you just got a bad one.

It's the classic cheap tool tax. You pay with your time and frustration instead of cash up front. A good fish tape is worth every penny when you're not cutting into drywall.
