Showerthought: a bad connector on one pole ate my whole Saturday back in 2016
I got called out to a small town outside Tulsa about 8 years back, customer said her internet dropped every time it rained. I figured easy job, swap a fitting, maybe 30 minutes tops. Ended up chasing that thing for 6 hours. Signal looked fine at the tap, fine at the ground block, and I kept blaming the modem so I swapped that twice for free like a rookie. Turned out one connector on the second pole had a hairline crack in the crimp that only let water in when it rained hard, so it tested clean every time I was up there in dry weather. I sat in my truck in her driveway waiting for a storm just so I could watch the levels tank in real time. These days I keep a jumper and a meter in the bucket so I can test wet instead of guessing. Any of you ever burn a whole day on a problem that only shows up when the weather does?
