The RG6 I ran last spring is already showing green corrosion
I did a house in Austin back in March, used outdoor rated RG6 with compression fittings. Went back this week for a signal issue and the connectors were green and crusty, not even 8 months in. The homeowner has a sprinkler system that hits that side of the house every night, so water was pooling right at the ground block. I pulled the fittings and the copper braid was dark, signal was down to like -15 dBmV. Anyone else seeing this fast corrosion on newer cable batches, or is it just the constant wet cycle?

Blame the sprinkler system first, it's basically giving that cable a daily bath in minerals and whatever else is in Austin water. Green crust is just Mother Nature's way of telling you she wanted to rewire the house herself. -15 dBmV is rough though, that's like the cable equivalent of screaming into a pillow and hoping someone hears you. I've seen newer batches corrode faster too, but honestly, the wet cycle 24/7 is the real killer here. Next time, I'd put a drip loop on that ground block and get it off the ground level, or just tell the homeowner their lawn wins the war.
