A repair shop in Denver made me rethink my whole soldering setup
I was swapping notes with a tech there last month, he's been fixing cameras for 30 years. He said he ditched his fancy iron for a $40 Weller and spends twice as long cleaning tips. At first I thought he was slacking, but then he showed me his board work on a beat-up Canon AE-1. Clean joints, no lifted traces, and he never rushes the prep. It hit me that I've been so focused on gear that I forgot the basics. Anyone else simplified their tools after seeing someone's method work better?

Wait. He uses a 40 dollar iron on a Canon AE-1? That's insane.
