Always thought those 'camera cleaning gel' things were a total gimmick
A buddy left a tube of it on my bench after fixing his old Nikon, so I gave it a shot on a dusty lens mount last week. Figured it would just smear stuff around, but it actually pulled out a ton of fine grit I missed with my usual brushes. Now I keep one in the kit for tricky spots, especially on mirror boxes. Anyone else have a weird tool they swore was junk but ended up using?

Honestly, I had the same exact thought about that gel stuff. It just looked like overpriced slime. But you're right about the mirror box, that's the real test. All those little corners a brush just pushes dust into? Makes you wonder how much junk we've all left in there over the years. I guess sometimes the silly looking tool is the one that actually gets the job done right.
