Appreciation post: the guy at a repair meet in Phoenix who showed me his trick for stuck filter rings
He handed me a plain rubber jar opener from the grocery store and said he had carried the same one for 11 years, and now I keep one in every kit. What everyday item do you keep around that has nothing to do with cameras?

My buddy Dave down in Tucson kept a paint can opener in his bag for like 6 years. Not for opening paint, he used it to pry up the little clips on lens mounts when his nails were too short. Guy swore by it. Then last spring he tried it on his kid's Nintendo Switch and snapped the thing in half, so now it lives in the junk drawer. Point is those random hardware store tools end up being the ones you actually reach for. Nobody plans it that way, it just happens.
