Bought a $120 'heat gun' that melted my first CLA attempt
Last month I tried my first shutter cloth repair on an old folder and figured I'd save money with a cheap heat gun from a big box store. It hit 1000F on the low setting and I cooked a nice hole right through the curtain before I could blink. I ended up paying $85 for a proper repair from a guy in Portland after that mess. The cheap gun is now only good for stripping paint, not camera work. Anyone else learn this lesson with bargain tools or did I just pick the worst possible one?
