Dropped a Rolleiflex from the bench, shutter jammed mid CLA
Was doing a CLA on a Rolleiflex for a client in Phoenix, had it strapped to the bench mount but the strap snapped, old leather, my fault. It fell like 2 feet onto a concrete floor, not even that bad, but the shutter speed dial jammed dead at 1/500. I spent 4 hours taking the front plate off 3 times before realizing a tiny screw from the lens board had backed out and wedged against the gear train. Cost me a whole afternoon and the client's shutter blades now need replacing, another $120 in parts. Anyone else here sworn off bench straps in favor of a hard mat or did I just get unlucky with that old strap?

At least you found the rogue screw before it became a permanent member of the gear train, I once lost a whole aperture blade assembly to a carpet fiber, so you're already ahead of the game. Did the client at least laugh when you told them it was a two-foot drop?
