Heard a kid at the camera shop say they just throw away old film cameras instead of fixing them...

Reminds me of how we treat so many things now. It feels like everything from toasters to tractors gets tossed instead of fixed. We've lost the basic idea that things can be repaired, and it makes the whole world feel cheaper and more temporary.

Actually, that makes sense from a business side. Fixing old film cameras is a niche skill, and parts can be impossible to find. For a shop, it's often cheaper and faster to sell someone a working used camera than to spend hours on a repair that might not even work.

Totally get that! My old VCR broke last year and the repair guy just laughed when I asked about fixing it. Said it's a paperweight now.
