My old mentor said to never soak a rusty lens ring in vinegar, and he was dead wrong
My mentor Sal swore up and down that vinegar would pit the aluminum on a stuck filter ring, so I spent two weeks fighting a Canon FD 50mm with a strap wrench and a lot of bad language. Last Tuesday I finally said forget it, soaked the ring in white vinegar for 20 minutes, and it spun off with almost no effort. Has anyone else had a stubborn ring that a short soak saved, or did I just get lucky with this one?
